Haivala Concrete Tools was started in Seattle, WA and has been in business since 1946.
It was founded by William S. Haivala, a member of the Seattle Local 528 for 30 yrs.,
a cement finisher for 20 yrs. and Superintendent of the Grand Coulee Dam Project
and the floating bridge on Lake Washington. Haivala needed a more central location
and moved to Wichita, KS in 1950. Mr. Haivala traveled nationwide demonstrating tools
and attracting clients for the company. He was the originator of the metal bull float,
adjustable bracket, metal extension handle and the magnesium hand float.
William S. Haivala remained President of the Board of Haivala Concrete Tools, Inc.,
until his death in March of 1982, since then his daughter and son-in-law, Paul & Beverly Griggs
have been running things and are continuing to put out quality tools.
